School of Seven Bells | 2009 North American Fall Tour Dates :: w/ Austin dates (Emo's, ACL)

Last month during Austin's June-concertapalooza, School of Seven Bells hit up the Mohawk with Black Moth Super Rainbow. While we went to just about every GREAT concert last month (Passion Pit, Animal Collective, Little Joy, CLUES, The Golden Filter/VEGA, Santigold, Grizzly Bear, St. Vincent, The Great Nostalgic & The Authors), this was one we unfortunately missed!

The band recently signed with Vagrant Records and will be re-releasing their 2008 debut, Alpinisms this upcoming Tuesday.

Win a guitar signed by Spoon and help out Girls Rock Camp

[spoon+poster.jpg]

Fans who attend Spoon’s show on Thursday, July 9, at Stubb’s Waller Creek Amphitheater (featuring opening acts Quasi and Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears) will have a chance to enter a special drawing presented by Girls Rock Camp Austin to win an Epiphone Dot guitar signed by all members of the band. Tickets for the drawing are only $5 each. Girls Rock Camp will display the signed guitar at the event, and will post the winner on

This is an opportunity for a Spoon fan to grab a very special piece of memorabilia and help out Girls Rock Camp Austin at the same time. Girls Rock Camp Austin, the only nonprofit all-female summer music program in Central Texas, is devolted to empowering girls through musical education and performance.  Fifty percent of GRCA's campers receive financial aid through the organization.

New Arctic Monkeys :: "Crying Lightning"

The first single from the Arctic Monkeys' new album Humbug was debuted today on the BBC's Zane Lowe show. Entitled "Crying Lightning", the song definitely has a darker feel to it, and just gets us even more excited about the third release from one of our favorite bands. (via)

The Josh Homme/James Ford produced Humbug is due out on August 25, check out the tracklisting here. Also, catch the Arctic Monkeys at this year's Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits Festivals!

Yeah Yeah Yeahs Headlining This Year's Monolith Festival

Glastonbury Highlights - Karen O - Yeah Yeah Yeahs by Laughing Man Images.

Imagine our surprise when Yeah Yeah Yeahs announced their first string of U.S. tour dates back in April and Austin was omitted from the list of cities. Although we're still hopeful on getting an Austin date, we're extremely excited they were added to this year's Monolith Festival at Colorado's Red Rocks Amphitheatre. We've heard so much about the beauty and "truly unique" concert experience that is Red Rocks from our friends BJ and Julio on many occasions. I think it's about time we stop hearing about it and experience it for ourselves!

As always, the Monolith Festival is a two day concert extravaganza and this year it'll be taking place on the 12th and 13th of September. The lineup already looks very impressive so far (check out the list of names down below), but they are still waiting to announce Sunday evening's headliner! Early bird tickets have already SOLD OUT, but you can still purchase a two day pass for only $95. Don't forget you can also follow (@MonolithFest) on Twitter to stay up with special announcements.

New Spoon :: "Got Nuffin"

Spoon-GotNuffin.jpg

Today, marks the day of Spoon's first new recorded material since their incredible Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga album in 2007. The new three song EP, entitled Got Nuffin, includes the title track (listen down below) as well as two b-sides, "Stroke Their Brains" and the instrumental "Tweakers". You can purchase the album in CD or MP3 form, with vinyl set to be available at the end of July at Spoon's official site.

The band is recording a new album this Summer and hopefully it'll see the light of day towards the end of the year or in early 2010. Read an interview Culture Bully did with lead singer Britt Daniel recently.

Don't forget you can also catch Spoon next week at Stubb's during Spoon X3 taking place on July 9th-11th. Tickets are $28 for each show, but if you can convince three other friends and purchase a four-pack they drop to $20 each. Not a bad deal...

Last Night: The Great Nostalgic and The Authors @ Tripp T-Shirts

We'd like to thank everyone who came out to our event at Tripp T-Shirts on Saturday! It was incredibly hot, but it was definitely nice to cool down with some free Lone Stars and Sweet Leaf Teas! We had a great time, hopefully you did too! Thanks to DJ Orion who kept the party going while spinning a little bit of everything. It was also finally great to see The Great Nostalgic and The Authors. Both bands were incredible live! We'd like to thank the good people at Tripp T-Shirts for their awesomeness and our good friends from Knucklerumbler for helping us put everything together. Alright enough with all that, check out our pics and videos we shot of the bands down below.

The Great Nostalgic:
