New Passion Pit | "Take a Walk" [Stream] + 2012 Summer Tour Dates

It's been far too long since we've heard anything new from Passion Pit. Well scratch that. Towards the end of July the five-piece will release their sophomore effort entitled Gossamer. The first single "Take a Walk" puts the lyrics in a more noticeable role in the mix, but still manages to sound just as catchy as everything else they've recorded.

The Morning Benders Change Name To Pop ETC / Release New Mixtape

The band posted on their official website and Twitter accounts last night that The Morning Benders were no more and that the band has re-emerged with a new name: Pop ETC.

The band has posted a long explanation of why they decided to change their name on the Morning Benders' website [HERE]. Basically, over the years they learned that "bender" was a derogatory term for homosexuals in Europe, so they decided to change the name to avoid making music under a potentially offensive name:

"We simply cannot go on using a name that is demeaning to the gay community. The reason we are making music is to reach and unite as many different kinds of people as possible, and the idea that our name may be hateful towards anyone makes us sick."

The best part is that they have released a brand new mix tape you can download for FREE through the bands new website and SoundCloud accounts.

The Black Keys Premiere New Song/Video "Lonely Boy"

I love that The Black Keys are not one to rest on their laurels, but instead continue to put out quality music. That is exactly why they are one of our favorite bands, hands down.

The duo's most recent song is entitled "Lonely Boy" and is included on their forthcoming album El Camino, which is due out in just over a month's time on Dec. 6th. The video down below (directed by Jesse Dylan) features a guy getting his groove on to the awesomeness of Dan and Patrick.

Daniel Rossen Performs New Songs At A Solo Gig

Big thanks to YANP and Grizzly Bear Galore for the heads up on this one! Daniel Rossen of Grizzly Bear performed an intimate solo acoustic set at Family Band's Upstate Forest Party in New York recently. Watch videos from his set, including a cover of Townes Van Zandt's "Kathleen" (Part 1, 2, 3, 4, 5). Just an FYI, you might want to throw some headphones on.

Fake Justice track "Beginning of the End", tricks bloggers into doing stuff at night.

By blogger law we are obligated to post this. So if you are one of those type of music fans that reads a bunch of blogs just keep moving along because we are pretty sure you have already seen this. But if you are the casual reader and have been wondering what happened to those Justice guys we have the answer. Tonight a new track "Beginning of the End" hit the interwebs and we got our first sneak at the new material. Check it out.

UPDATE: The song is a fake and the groups label Ed Banger sent out an email saying that it was sent from a hacked email address. We still think the picture is cool so we will keep the post up.

New Music from The xx & Video for "Crystalised"

We've been digging The xx (pronounced "ex ex") since stumbling upon their video "Crystalised" on The Fader earlier (they also have an interview with the band too). Although the video is pretty lackluster, as it just features the band leaning against a wall playing their instruments with projections going across their faces and behind them, the song on the other hand is very entrancing. The music is simple, yet works with the guy and girl vocals just right.

The band are four 19 year olds (Baria, Jamie, Oliver, and Romy) from South West London. They list their influences (according to their Myspace) as Aaliyah to CocoRosie, Rihanna to The Cure, Missy Elliott to Chromatics, The Kills to Ginuwine, Pixies to Mariah Carey and Justin Timberlake to Tracy + the plastics. Their first single "Crystalised" was just released a few days back on Young Turks and the b-side includes a cover of Aaliyah's "Hot Like Fire" (purchase it here). The foursome are currently working on a full-length due out in September.
