Beastie Boys Perform "The New Style" on the "Chappelle Show" Back in 2004 [Video]

Just yesterday comedian and co-creator of the "Chappelle Show" Neal Brennan paid tribute to the passing of MCA by sharing an unreleased Beastie Boys musical performance of "The New Style" for the aborted 3rd season of the show in late fall 2004. It was on a boat in East River, NYC. I love the fact that you can tell Dave Chappelle is genuinely having an awesome time. (via)

Team Me | "Show Me" Video

For fans of Mew (check) and Passion Pit (and check), Team Me is a six-piece band from Norway. They released a self-titled EP and their debut album (To The Treetops!) last year that somehow slipped under our radar. We regrettably missed them last month during SXSW but hope they come back in the near future.

Sigur Ros | “Ekki Múkk”

Sigur Ros is releasing a new album, Valtari, on May 28. The album will apparently have seven tracks, and premiering today on the Icelandic band’s website is the nearly 8-minute track “Ekki Múkk”.

The website also includes a brief but interesting quote from Georg:

“i really can’t remember why we started this record, i no longer know what we were trying to do back then. i do know session after session went pear-shaped, we lost focus and almost gave up…did give up for a while. but then something happened and form started to emerge, and now i can honestly say that it’s the only sigur rós record i have listened to for pleasure in my own house after we’ve finished it.

Recorded in AIR Studio's Lyndurst Hall - a building that was originally a church and missionary school designed in 1880 by the great Victorian architect Alfred Waterhouse (designer of the Natural History Museum) - Justin Vernon was joined only by Sean Carey, with the pair positioning themselves opposite one another at two grand pianos. Although neither Justin nor Sean's first instrument is piano, they were able to remodel the songs in a way that showcases their complimentary vocals and, perhaps more strikingly, a seemingly effortless ability to experiment with form and structure.
