Beastie Boys In Concert (Live From Glasgow 1999) + (Hiro Ballroom NYC 2006)

More Beastie Boys, yeah why not? Here's a video of them performing at a concert in Glasgow from back in the day when MTV still played music. (via)

The second video is from an intimate show filmed during 2006 in NYC at Hiro Ballroom. The show was called "Gimme Shelter" and was put on by the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and Rational Animal (www.rational-animal.org). I really admire the trio for their integrity and how they always stood up for great causes. We need more people like them in the world. (via)

If you're still in need of a Beastie Boys fix, check out BeastieMixes. They have a ton of concert recordings of the trio. Another incredibly cool mix to check out is Z-Trip's Beastie Boys Megamix.

Beastie Boys Perform "The New Style" on the "Chappelle Show" Back in 2004 [Video]

Just yesterday comedian and co-creator of the "Chappelle Show" Neal Brennan paid tribute to the passing of MCA by sharing an unreleased Beastie Boys musical performance of "The New Style" for the aborted 3rd season of the show in late fall 2004. It was on a boat in East River, NYC. I love the fact that you can tell Dave Chappelle is genuinely having an awesome time. (via)

Jay-Z Covers Beastie Boys' "No Sleep Till Brooklyn" at All Points West

The All Points West crowd got a special treat last night. Jay-Z came out and performed a cover of the trio's "No Sleep Till Brooklyn" as a tribute to the Boys not being able to be at the festival because of MCA's cancer diagnosis. He then transitioned into one of his new songs, "Brooklyn We Go Hard". Very classy! (via YANP)

There's still no word on who will be replacing the B-Boys at Austin City Limits. Any ideas?

ACL Schedule Released, Beastie Boys forced to cancel appearance

IMG_1061 by djatkinson77.

I am sure you have already seen somewhere today the Austin City Limits Festival schedule was released this morning. This is always scary because of the possible conflicts in the schedule. Everyone has different tastes so I am sure some were annoyed in some way this morning but I am happy to say that I have no real conflicts.

The sad news is that the Beastie Boys have been forced to cancel their appearance at the festival due to Adam Yauch being diagnosed with a tumor. Apparently it was caught early and he will have surgery and should be okay. You can get the full info on that from the Beasties [here]. I guess we will have to wait and see if they get a replacement or shift some of the schedule around. We will keep you posted. If you missed the schedule check it out day to day below..

New Beastie Boys :: "Too Many Rappers" (feat. Nas)

In May, we got to hear two new tracks from the Beastie Boys, "Lee Majors Comes Again" and "B-Boys in the Cut". Now we get to hear a decent copy of another new song the B-Boys performed at Bonnaroo with Nas. Entitled, "Too Many Rappers", all the songs will appear on the Beastie Boys' new album, The Hot Sauce Committee Part. 1, due out Sept. 15th.

New Beastie Boys :: "Lee Majors Come Again" & "B Boys in the Cut"

According to Stereogum, random copies of the vinyl re-issued Check Your Head collector's set came with a bonus 7" that includes two new, previously unreleased tracks. The first unreleased track, titled “Lee Majors Come Again,” is rap over hardcore instrumentation. The second, titled “B Boys in the Cut,” is an a cappella track, which you might have heard at one of their live shows.

Mic To Mic points out that, the lyrics indicate that these are new: "In 'Lee Majors Come Again,' Yauch references Mix Master Mike and his 'sneeze guard.' Mix Master Mike was not their DJ during the CYH period, and he's only used the sneeze guard since 2006." Check them both out down below.

In addition to playing both this year's Bonnaroo and Austin City Limits, it would be a special treat to catch them at their ACL TV Taping (no word on that date as of yet).

Austin City Limits is celebrating it's 35th year on the air. The PBS series boasts an incredible lineup this year, featuring numerous diverse performers. The full list of confirmed performers for Austin City Limits tapings include Dave Matthews Band, Pearl Jam, Kenney Chesney, Elvis Costello, Willie Nelson & Asleep at the Wheel, Beastie Boys, Sonic Youth, Ben Harper and Relentless7, M. Ward, Andrew Bird, Madeleine Peyroux, St. Vincent, Heartless Bastards, Okkervil River, and Band of Heathens.
"We had high hopes for our 35th anniversary, but never expected to pull together a season like this" said ACL producer Terry Lickona. "We've scored major coups with some of the biggest names in rock and some of the best touring bands in the world. And we're excited to continue to showcase the best new and emerging sounds wherever they come from, including some of the hottest bands making waves in Austin and beyond. After three and a half decades it seems like everybody still wants to stand on that stage and be a part of ACL history."
Exact broadcast dates, additional confirmed performers and news of other exciting events planned for this special 35th anniversary season will be unveiled in the coming weeks. ACL features a blog if you'd like to stay informed and also a newsletter you can sign up for to receive email updates.

Austincitylimits.org features performance clips, extended interviews and photo galleries from spotlighted artists and archival footage of historical performances from the great stage of Austin City Limits. The show is broadcast in dynamic high definition and 5.1 surround sound on PBS HD channels where available and airs nationally on 97% of the country's PBS stations. KLRU is Austin's PBS affilatiate by the way.

Last year, we were lucky enough to attend the My Morning Jacket and Duffy tapings and we were blown away by the fantastic sound and intimate setting. Hopefully we'll be at some of the great tapings they have this year!
