Fun Fun Fun Fest 2011 Makes Some Awesome Additions (Spoon, Black Lips + More)

Through a tweet earlier today the amazing people behind Fun Fun Fun Fest unleashed a video to help describe their sadness in leaving Waterloo Park. At the end of the video, some incredible bands were added to the already insane lineup at this year's fest. Spoon will be performing their ONLY 2011 show and Black Lips will also be bringing their crazy antics to the FFF Fest stage. Watch the video to catch all the additions and try not to tear up...

Unfortunately student three-day passes did sell out last night but you can still purchase regular three-day passes ($135) or Pretty Important Person passes [PIP] ($270). Single day tickets ($55) go on sale September 1st.

Spoon Performs on KCRW's Morning Becoming Eclectic

Spoon Performing "Written In Reverse" on Conan

Last night Spoon made an appearance on one of Conan's presumed last nights as host of The Tonight Show on NBC. The band performed the track "Written In Reverse" off their new album Transference. Watch the video down below and also catch a live version at the KCRW studios here.

On Monday we mentioned Spoon would be performing a FREE show at Austin's Waterloo Records. Now the band has released a Spring North American tour that includes numerous two night stands in more than a few cities. Seeing how Austin used to be their home and they still enjoy hanging out here, the foursome have decided to kick off their tour during NPR's SXSW Showcase at Stubb's. Spoon To Perform a FREE Waterloo In-Store (1/25)

Come next week Spoon will release their seventh album Transference. Having already heard a handful of songs ("Got Nuffin", "Is Love Forever", "The Mystery Zone", and "Written In Reverse") from the new album we can't wait to hear it in its entirety. Even better than that though, if you'd like to catch the band performing those songs live, you'll get your chance in a couple of weeks. That's right, circle your calendar for Monday, January 25th at 4pm, as they'll be headed to Waterloo Records for a FREE In-store. Trust us, you'll definitely need to get there early that day.

Spoon Makes Live Performances from Spoon X3 Available to Purchase

Hey, remember earlier this month when Spoon took over Stubb's for 3 straight nights? It was pretty awesome right? It'd be nice to have a recording of the show, huh? Well, last week while Spoon was working on their new album in Brooklyn, their sound engineer Hot Pockets happened to be in Austin mixing recordings of each of the three Stubb's shows. Each show was recorded in multi-track HD and you can purchase any of the 3 nights as an mp3 ($7) or FLAC ($9) download at the Spoon store. Better yet, you can purchase all three nights for $15 (mp3) or $20 (FLAC)! They also have that amazing poster that was at the shows for sale as well.

New Spoon :: "Got Nuffin"

Today, marks the day of Spoon's first new recorded material since their incredible Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga album in 2007. The new three song EP, entitled Got Nuffin, includes the title track (listen down below) as well as two b-sides, "Stroke Their Brains" and the instrumental "Tweakers". You can purchase the album in CD or MP3 form, with vinyl set to be available at the end of July at Spoon's official site.



The band is recording a new album this Summer and hopefully it'll see the light of day towards the end of the year or in early 2010. Read an interview Culture Bully did with lead singer Britt Daniel recently.

Don't forget you can also catch Spoon next week at Stubb's during Spoon X3 taking place on July 9th-11th. Tickets are $28 for each show, but if you can convince three other friends and purchase a four-pack they drop to $20 each. Not a bad deal...

Spoon Is Playing Red's Scoot Inn (Austin) :: April 21st

Alright, you heard it here first. Spoon is working on new songs at the moment but the guys will take time out of their schedule to play a couple of shows in the next few months.

Britt Daniel and company will be playing Red's Scoot Inn here in Austin on April 21st w/ support from Black Nasty.  Tickets for the show (21+) are $20 go on sale tomorrow (2/28) at 10 am.

In addition to working on new songs, the band has been very busy with other projects. Here's what they've been up to:

Britt covered the Crooked Fingers song "Run, Lieutenant, Run" for a digital-only Crooked Fingers EP entitled Your Control, which will be available on iTunes on March 3rd. He spent the past three months producing the new album by Brooklyn's White Rabbits, which he says "was like summer camp, only in the dead of winter, in Brooklyn, with a bunch of chain-smokers." The record was mixed in January with longtime Spoon collaborator Mike McCarthy and it comes out on TBD Records on May 19th.

Jim produced the excellent debut LP by Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears, which came out on January 27 on Lost Highway.

Rob is doing some shows with the Get Up Kids throughout this year and he will also be looking after Jeff Byrd from time to time.

Eric has been spending time in Texas and New York working on a solo project.

Red Hot
Spoon contributed a song entitled "Well-Alright" to a new Red Hot compilation called Dark Was The Night, which was just released worldwide on 4AD. This album is composed of 31 exclusive tracks by different bands and is available as a double cd or a triple vinyl (or a download.) It benefits the Red Hot Organization – an international charity dedicated to raising money and awareness for HIV and AIDS. For more information, go here.

Spoon Set To Play One-Off Show at The Parish

In case there weren't enough good shows in October here in Austin (Cold War Kids, Kings of Leon, TV on the Radio, and more), now you can another one to the list. The Austinist reports Spoon will be hitting the stage at The Parish on Monday, October 13. They are playing this special one-off gig to support Texas Democrats and the campaign of Mark Thompson, Democratic candidate for the office of Railroad Commissioner.

Tickets are $35 and go onsale tomorrow (Oct. 2) HERE, we're assuming at 10am. Gary Clark Jr. is set to open. Don't wait to buy your tickets another day, we promise this will SELLOUT really quickly!!

Spoon at SXSW

Spoon will indeed be playing SXSW this year. Their lone performance is at the Auditorium Shores Stage at our Lady Bird Lake on Thursday, March 13th at 8pm.

Spoon Preps Remix EP

Not content to hide behind their shades, those fellas in Spoon, the pride of Merge Records, are set to release a single/EP on April 8, featuring their cover of The Natural History's "Don't You Evah." The track will appear on the EP as it did on last July's Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga, but the eight-song collection will also include the original version as performed by The Natural History. Additionally, the disc features a new Spoon song, "All I Got Is Me," as well as remixes by Diplo, DJ Amaze, Alan Astor, Ted Leo and Matthew Dear. The final contributor, Doc Delay Fixerupper, made it onto the EP because someone saw the remix on his MySpace page and forwarded the track to the band, Britt Daniel told Billboard.com.

Feist: I Feel It All

Feist just released her new single, “I Feel It All.” It includes the original album version of the song, plus two “I Feel It All” remixes (one by Britt from Spoon and one by Gonzales), and a remix of “My Moon My Man” by Grizzly Bear. The one remixed from Spoon is down below. Her video is really cool, lots of fireworks and supposedly only took one take.
